We have a local roaster that I really dig...Flat Black Coffee. Wondering if other people have (and like) something similar. It might be fun to put something together like a pass, where we send locally roasted coffees around to the next guy in line.

Any other coffee fiends around?

In Dayton we have a company called Boston Stoker -- which you might particularly be interested in given your handle, lol. I've only had the coffee once, but it was very good. They import their own stuff.

Still, nothing compares to what I've had in Costa Rica and Jamaica, especially Costa Rica--I could drink that stuff all day long because it had very little of the bitterness that coffee normally has. Really great stuff.

I have a place called Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company that I've been buying from for years. I've never been disappointed in a cup made with their beans. The roastmaster makes up special blends for the farmers market on the weekend on top of the usual selection of beans. Great stuff!

There are a few local joints here, but I am loyal to one named Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea, they roast in house, and the Mill Mountain Blend is the best.

I would be interested in a pass.

we/ve got a local place called the roasterie. they do several different blends. a lot of the trendier restaurants in kc use their stuff. they'll even do special blends just for them.

I assume everyone is going to want coffee for drip-type makers, not espresso machines, right? I only ask because for my drip style maker I typically purchase a city or full-city roast; I generally reserve Vienna or French for espresso.

Does that fall in line with everyone else's methods?

Or do we jsut say "screw it" and get whatever kind of roast floats yer own boat?

I have never really looked into coffees. I do like to drink it and if I did look into coffee I don't think I would want to drink caribou just cause it is too corporate-mainstream/"famous" or maybe overrated. But here is the blend that my dad drinks. It is a step up from Folgers (I think).

I would be interested in a pass although I don't know that you guys would want me to throw in caribou cause it is pretty much like Folgers every one can access it its not local. I have a drip coffee maker and a french press and stove top espresso. I think I have a bean grinder too not sure though.

I'm up for this. Also dig the Flat Black Coffee but we have other good ones in/or near Boston so I'll go with one of those. Maybe some Red Barn.
