Has anyone heard of this Graycliff cigar? Or tried one?

My local BM said that it was pretty much a cuban (which is why im not posting this in the Habanos sec) but 'not'.

I think he was asking around $22 for one stick with a purple label. He told me that it was right up my alley, but I wanted to do a bit of research before I dropped that amount on something "scammy".

Any insite you guys might have, I sure would love to hear it?!

Regards,
-Chrisso

Founded by the Garzaroli Family to compliment their hotel and restaurant business. Bahamas since 1997. Pricey cigar. I have liked some but the price point usually keeps me away.

I've had a few graycliff, and was not impressed. I heard they have some lines that are good, but haven't had any. Cuban? No. No NC at all is "pretty much a cuban", and don't believe a B&M that says otherwise.

Thanks CWS,

The BM did tell me the story about it, and yes they seem very pricey. Just wasnt sure if they were worth the $20+.

I think Ill hold off on that then.

Thanks for the input!

The only cigar that Graycliff makes that I can smoke is the Double Espresso line (or the Espresso in Lancero vitola)...All others I have never been able to finish.

Whatever you think of these cigars, never pay full MSRP for them. You can find them on sale at the major internet sites etc.

Then again, you are used to smoking cigars they only make one of during the 2nd montly full moon rolled on the plump thighs of virgins. :peckkiss:

Anyway, Graycliff makes a number of sticks, many you can find cheaply on internet sites. I like the G2 myself for a mild smoke; I don't know that I would pay $22 for anything from them, YMMV.

Agreed with all of the above. They have some lines that are OKAY at best. But certainly nothing worth a $20+ price tag. If you feel compelled to spend that much on a NC then look for a Padron Serie 1926 or an Opus X. Remember, just because it costs a lot doesn't mean it's worth a lot.

Same here. And on pricing, yes you can find these online for MUCH cheaper. I know years ago I found these on Cbid and other sites for like $5 or so.

Agree with everything above. Graycliff is basically across the street from the Embassy where I work in the Bahamas and while they do have some good cigars (if you go there, def have a handroll one that they will do for you after dinner) IMO they are overpriced, I never go there to get my Graycliff cigars, I get them on CBID where you can get deals. I agree with brooks, I like the Double Espresso line, and the purple band one is the Chateau Grand Cru, and it it is a solid cigar, but not 22 dollars worth.

The purple one is the Chateau Grand Cru and is a good cigar, IMO. Cuban? No. Worth the cost? Eh... subjective... but I'd try one if you never have and can afford it!

Don't confuse these with the crap Graycliff cigars that are catalog buys because they sold some naming rights (like the G2 and 1666)....... the Chateau Grand Crus are legit, from Bahamas, tasty, and pricey everywhere (even guys' beloved CI has them for 81-108 bucks for a 5-pack).
yeah, same situation in many respects as gurkha, where the catalog stuff and the B&M stuff are sometimes vastly different. also, both can command but rarely live up to some hefty price tags.

i think (and someone step in if i have boned this) is that one of the core guys to found the lines, blender or roller, was once and recently a cuban master, rolled for fidel, etc.

and, as stated, there is only one way to really know, and that would be to try it if the price is not too dear for you. or spend that coin on an ISO for three quesada espana. o)

This I'd agree with after my palate developed. Before that I liked the 1666's which I thought weren't to bad for a budget smoke. Haven't had one in two years so I could be off on this now. I have had the one your referring to and I can honestly say no it's not worth the price, but we all have different taste.

You can tell they are overpriced cause they always end up in "premium" bundles for a lot less. They aren't horrible, but they aren't remarkable.
