Anyone smoked any of the 2010 Opus X?

Hey guys,

Have any of you smoked any Opus from 2010? I wonder if this last years crop is better than previous years? Specifically the XXX Belicoso; with CA giving it a 95 rating and all.

I have actually smoked both this week also.. Both were very good.. I enjoy fresh Opus.

Thats how my Tuesday ended..

Yup, smoked several No.5, No.4, xXx, Petit Lanceros young and old recently. They are both good but I prefer the older one, strong but very smooth.

I agree with that, still benefit from some rest, but not as obviously needed like some of the other recent years did.

I had a #5 yesterday that was very good. I think this years batch will age a little better than last years which seemed a little bland. If anyone in the Dallas area is still looking for some, Elite Cigar in Addison had 3 boxes still on the shelf.

Smoked a Perf. #5 and Power Ranger last week and the flavors were excellent (major complexity, smooth finish with slight spice kick) but very young. In addition, I had some relight issues with the #5. I won't touch either of them again for at least a year!

Got a box for Christmas... Love them, but they don't taste like Opus to me. Very different flavor profile. They have like... an oaky sweetness, and not much of the spice the regular Opus blend has. Agreed though, they are very good.

I thought the xXx from '10 have been pretty bland. the FF and #2 were okay for being young, just hit or miss. The #4 and #5 pretty decent. Seemed like a lot of potential here though. Thinking these will be great in only a year or so vs. several years for the 08 and 09 vintage. YMMV.

I did have a chance to smoke a 2010 Opus XXX and really enjoyed it. It really was a pepper bomb like another BOTL mentioned. Like any other Opus it would greatly benefit from some aging.
