OK I am looking at getting one of these systems and wanted to see who has them, the Pros & Cons. And if there was another system to look at as well.

THANKS!

I own the Roku XD and love it. It's wireless out of the box and was incredibly easy to link up with my network. I bought it purely for Netflix, but it has a number of other channels as well. I do prefer my Xbox 360's Netflix layout better than the Roku, but it's sufficient. One of the cons would be the fact that you can't turn off the Roku player. It's always on, and when not in use it goes into a "sleep" mode. Other than that, for the price it can't be beat.

Roku has been in this business a lot longer than both apple and google combined. Also, roku has more channels available via the large network of followers on the roku forums. For the price, can't be beat.

I have an Apple TV and like it a lot. I've never played with a Roku so I can't legitimately compare. But I like the fact that I can rip movies and plop them in iTunes and serve them up to my TV. I also read somewhere that Roku doesn't have a YouTube channel integrated?

Ribby, Ribby, Ribby....always hatin on Apple :) ....where do you get this nugget from? Roku's been around since 1980? :headroll:

AppleTV is nice if you have other apple stuff and rent/buy content from apple's store. If you have a nice HDTV though, the Roku has 1080p streaming. The AppleTV can only do 720p.

If you have Amazon Prime you can stream content through that on Roku for free.
If you don't own anything else that plays Netflix then its good for that too.

Apple interface is more polished though, and you can jailbreak it to put on custom software. If you are ripping movies it probably would be better. The Roku has USB support but I tried it and its not very great so far. It will play 1080p movies though, so if you rip them yourself you can make it work fine I bet.

Guess it depends on what you are doing with it. I went with the Roku for Amazon streaming and cause it plays media formats I download which the Apple TV won't.
