So I finally decide to go Mac. Wife bought me an Imac when our old PC was running out of space. Have had it for a little over a month and there is a purple line running vertically from the top to the bottom of the screen. I took it into Apple and luckily I purchased the extended warranty but if I didn't,looks like the fix would have been a little over 1K. Now what gets me is the thing is like I said only about 5 weeks old! Apples got the computer till they get the parts in so I'm back to my slow but working PC lol. I really don't see the advantage yet except that I can download all my pics from my iphone. G1

We have two Mac at our house. We have the MacBook Pro and the IMac. We have had great luck with both so far and will never buy a PC again. MacBook going on two years old and is as fast as it was the day I got it. Bought the Wife the new Imac to get her out of the PC, and sold her on them. We love ours.

Sorry for the bad luck, hope they get it right for you!

5 weeks old? Pretty sure it comes with a 90 day or 1 yr warranty. Should have been covered anyway.

That kind of thing can happen to any computer though. I have owned 4 or 5 macs and in general the hardware quality has been very good. There have been since nitpicks here like the slot loading cd drives seem to die out after a while, but I don't even use that anymore. The latest Macbook Pro is better than my previous one.

I had a friend who bought a Dell laptop years ago and they had the thing for over a month before he got a fixed one back. Usually my mac repairs come back in a week or less depending on what needs to be replaced. They have gotten a lot better at fixing things in the store. They used to do more shipping out to a repair center. That added a day before and after it was repaired and then the apple store would verify if it was in working condition before you go it back.
