So a buddy of mine purchased several boxes of Cuban cigars and came to me asking if they were legit or not. After looking up online it would seem they have all the characteristics and details of a Cuban cigar, here is a picture:

Now here is the twist they came in a Partagas box:

Don't mind the rip portion that was done by me since the seal was hard to get open and even took a black light to the back of label portion, which even checked out. Personally, I have never seen this happen before and he had 4 other unopened boxes exactly the same with same cigar I posted just in a Partagas box. Has anyone seen, heard of or know if these are legit?

It has me completely stomped. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Someone was asleep at the factory.......FD Cano shows a 4 3/4 by 39 size, the Party is 5 inches by 39.Measure your sticks,if they are 4 3/4 they are real.
By the way ,the FD Cano is a great smoke......http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/

All the La Flor de Cano's i've ever seen pics of are in La flor de Cano boxes with a big J. Cano where the Partagas is on those boxes. My instincts would say not legit just because who would put a cuban cigar in a "different" cuban box? Doesn't make much sense, however idk for sure, maybe partagas bought the brand? I am no expert, hell i've never even had a c.c. just read alot lol

Very unlikely someone would fake these cigars. There's just no reason to do so for a lesser known, cheap brand. I'd suspect something much simpler, like someone repackaging a 25 ct box into whatever 5pk boxes they had handy for resale or something. I'd be very shocked to find anyone faking LFdCs!

I've been thinking about it too, I also can't believe that LFdC's would be faked. Counterfeiters want to fake cigars that tourists/noobs have heard of. Most tourists or noobs have at least heard of the Brand Cohiba. Walk up to a tourist at a LCDH and ask them if they ever heard of a LFdC doubt they have any idea.

They smoke really well actually and actually fit the length and ring gauge perfectly. So from the cigar perspective alone it seemed legit the only thing that threw me off was being in a sealed Partagas box.

My gut feeling was similar to as some of you said, that someone got there hands on them through whatever means (not really wanting to think about that aspect) who had access to the cigars and boxes and just put them in there. For the price paid per 5-pack it was worth taking the risk.

That last statement is like saying for the price you can get a glasstop box, it's worth taking the risk!

My theory has always been, if you have to ask.. You know the rest.

Just my 2 cents.

Very accurate statement esp. since I travel quite a bit around the Caribbean and abroad. It's common knowledge that when in port there are those who count on the Touristas walking off the boats/airports to stop and look at all the trinkets and Cigars are always out there being touted as the "real stuff"....I see so many people get ripped off from Vendors and unless you are in a verified store (LCDH) the chances of getting a 'real' CC is minimal at best. Nassau is famous for their fake Vendors...Cozumel is another port...don't expect to get CC's in the Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico just because they have a ton of Vendors selling them.

Know your product and know the taste...you can purchase CC's on your own thru safe means rather than buy them at Tourista Ports of Call. I tell my friends who travel not to buy cigars when they travel because they know I love cigars and I don't want to see them get ripped off because they like to buy me cigars.
