As some of you know, I have a small 12 bottle vinotemp that was pimped out by some mav_sd shelving.

My problem is...I can't get the freakin humidity below 70. The temp is perfect at 64-65 at all times, and I have THREE POUNDS of 65% heartfelt beads in the thing....but it's permanently at 65 degrees and 70%.

What can I do?!?

No if anything I think the beads are under-humidified.

Not sure how to tell if they're 65% beads for certain but that's what I ordered and what the packages said...lol

Had a similiar problem with a coolerdor. First of all do all the dummy checks. Are the beads 65%? is the hygro calibrated properly, use a boveda pack to be sure? If you check this the beads might be overhumidified, i use a blow dryer to toatally dry them out. this is what finally solved my problem. I would dry out a pound and see what happens. Cause 3 lbs is overkill, do you have them distributed throughout the vinotemp. I would check for a condensation problem. getting my new 12 btl vino seasoning so let me know if you find the culprit

A half a pound let alone 3 should be sufficient. check w heartfelt on your oder to make sure you really ordered 65%.

I use 3 lbs in my large beverage fridge (holds 166 cans of soda) and I think that's overkill. I'm married to a redhead and she is so fiery that she keeps the house at 75 during the day and 65 at night. My fridgeador stays steady at 69-71 degrees without even plugging it in.

I used three of the simple spanish cedar trays in mine, but I placed them in a plastic bag with containers of distilled water for 8 days. They took on plenty of moisture and didn't seem to negatively impact the humidity once I filled them with sticks and placed them on the shelves. You could also test your hygro to be sure you're getting a good reading.

now there's an idea. I'll put em in the fridge overnight and see if that helps :)

Also for goingpostal -- with this model is there a drain plug that I need to seal? I didn't see one on the bottom
more like a hole rather than a plug. dead center in the bottom back of the unit above the black tray, here it mine covered with tape.

Right on, mine's in a bit different place but I found it nonetheless and hopefully sealed it up. Have 2lbs of my beads in the refrigerator for the night and will dry them a bit further with a hairdryer tomorrow.

Thanks for your help lads.

I would dry some of the beads out and leave them dry. Instead of wetting all of them at the same time, leave some dry. This way, the wet beads will keep from going below 65% and the dry beads will keep it from going over 65%.

3lbs of beads is a lot for a 12ct fridge....imho. Take them out for a while and the humidity should adjust itself.

Try 100% silica (damp rid or kitty litter) this will remove humidity faster and better than beads. I use them every spring/summer with great results.
I keep a few of these bags around as when the humidity spikes here in GA. as it always does in the summer RH gets a bit out of control so I'll put in a small package and it takes care of those spikes within a few hours.
