Hola!
My wife and I just got back from a week at Dreams Resort in Punta Cana and I thought I'd share my findings with my fellow BLOT's
First if you want a box of glass top Cohiba's (regular or vanilla flavored!), fake Opus X (the bands looked like they where made on a copy machine!), or other fakes you'll be in the right place. Our resort had diffrent vendors selling cigars in the lobby every night, one got rather upset when I told him that the R y J Limited Edition 2007's where fake, he gave me one to try, it was your typical mild dominican cigar and from the ash short filler. The only thing I did puchase was a few no name dominican's for morning and afternoon cigars. If your considering a trip to the DR, do what I did bring your own smokes.
Now that I've bummed you out with the bad news about the cigar situation here is the good news you could smoke almost everywhere! Want to light up by the pool (or in the pool), no problem! Smoke at the bar, no problem! While watching the nightly show in the theater, no problem! The only places in our resort you couldn't smoke where in the resturants and the rooms, but the balcony where okay.
Dominican Rum is very, very smooth, a glass of Brugal rum on the rocks along with my night LGC or Tat was the prefect ending to the day!
The only other bad part of the trip was having to come from the 88 dregree weather in the DR to the 55 degree weather here in PA, BURR!
