As most of you know, we're in between Ohio and Japan now, visiting family. Well, this morning my Grandma passed away. She's lived with my parents for a couple years now, and the last two months her health has failed following a stroke. We are all very thankful that I was able to be here when it happened. She was almost 96, so we are celebrating a full life. It's still tough, of course, especially for my Mom.

To make things worse, a couple hours later my son Andrew (2), hit his head badly and got a nasty cut just above his left eye. We had to take him in to get stiched up (glued up, actually). He'll be fine aside from a manly scar, but not a fun addition to our not fun day.

Now I'm struggling with whether to continue on to visit the in-laws on Saturday as planned or stay for the funeral on Wednesday. Everyone in the family thinks I should go as planned, but I'm torn.

Anyway, thanks as always for being my sounding-board and prayer-circle, Brothers!

Sorry to hear about your bad day and my condolences go out to you and your family. The funeral is a time to celebrate ones life when on earth. That is my feelings of a funeral anyways. Sounds like you have already been doing that. I would say go as plan and enjoy the in-laws while they are still alive. Then again if you think your mother needs you then stay. But I would go on as plan and remember the good times with your grandmother.

Sorry to hear Nate, I was close to my grandpa and it definitely hurt when he passed. Of course family is a different story, but I won a trip for 2 to Cabo San Lucas through a radio station with a private concert planned by Johnny Lang and the weekend before we were supposed to fly out, my grandpa died. Everyone told me to take the trip but of course I would've felt too guilty not flying to where I grew up for the funeral.

Everyone's situation is different, but I would've regretted forever not going to the funeral. Sorry again...

Hang in there, it's like I say: "Nothing can go wrong, it can only get better". Now, if you want to believe it, then it will happen that way.

Chin up.
And sorry to heard about grandma. My prayers are with her and also your son.

Sorry for your loss, it is hard to lose someone you loved but i do believe that we should celebrate ones life and all the times we shared. I always play this willie song and eases my pain. As for your travel plans, do what you feel is right, and it will be the right choice.

My son just got 5 stitches in his forehead the other weekend - I took the stitches out 5 days later & by the weekend it was completely healed - amazing.

As far as your Grandmother - do what you feel is best. I'm sorry for your loss - I'm close with my grandparents as well (2 have passed) & often remember their laughter, love & the example they provided.

Safe travels, whatever you decide Nate!
