Had a dram of both of these fine libations on Saturday....the Carribean Cask was 1st, and i'm now almost all the way through my 1st bottle. This is just a plain excellent Scotch. Nice, subtle sweetness, w/ hints of the Rum finish (vanilla/spice). Great flavors and easy drinkability...

Next was the HP 18, which was my 1st go w/ this one. Much different than any Scotch i've been drinking, and particularly the BVCC...but not at all in a bad way. Slightly floral, w/ some honey, and a nice crisp/smooth finish to it. Drinkability here is also a non-issue...one of those you can go back and have another glass (or 2) of.

I almost hate to say it, but for that particular sitting, I preferred the BVCC. The HP 18 is however, going to be a welcomed addition to the liquor cabinet when I want something a tad out of the norm.

I am almost finished with my first bottle of Carribean Cask; that stuff is wicked good. If you like it, you really need to try the Glenmorangie Sonalta PX.

That's one GlenMo I haven't tried.....I have went through a bottle of each of the La Santa, and the Quinta Ruban....but found I preferred the Mac 12 to em both so didn't really dive any deeper into the line. Will keep an eye out for the Sonalta though based on your reco.

In my own opinion, the Lasanta and the Quinta Ruban are the worst of the Glennmo line up. I would rank my top 3 glennmo's in this way:

1. Sonnalta PX (my favorite scotch of all time! notes of fruit, creme brulee, caramel, the works)

2. Nectar D'or (Friggin' awesome, honey comb, citrus, vanilla)

3. The Original (tough to beat for $30 a bottle, floral, sweet, easy drinking, and killer nose)

Good info....when I bought the La Santa, I was going backn'forth between it and the Nectar. Had I revisited the brand prior to starting this thread, it wouldve been the Nd'O. Now, that may not be the case...lol. I've still got lots to try though. I'm not quite there into venturing back to Islays (Laphroig QC scared be off the style w/ it's smoke/peat)...but I was eyeballing the Ardbeg 10 also recently. I'll hold off on those I think until I've made my way through some more Highlands.

Glenmorangie remains one of my favorites. I am a huge fan of the 15 yr old from their old line up. Looking forward to trying the Artein.

I really need to try the BvCC! I love rum, and Bv in general. Haven't found it here.

Glenmo is probably my favorite label overall, with MacAllan a close 2nd. I love the Nectar and la Santa. I've tried to find the Sonalta PX, by I've never been able to.

If someone has a good source and price on the Glenmo SPX and BvCC, let me know if you're willing to ship me some on the DL, lol.

My Dad gave me a bottle for my last b-day; there are a few shops here in Dallas that carry it. Downside is price; about $110 a bottle after tax...

Not surprised that the Balvenie was your favorite....they make some damn fine single malt's and they are priced nicely.

If you can find it, get your hands on the Balvenie 17 Rum Cask... came out a few years back.

Also, the Glenfiddich 21 is finished in rum casks.

They all go great with cigars, naturally.

Balvenie anything is good. But I can definitely give thumbs up to the DoubleWood, Caribbean Cask, 15yr Single Barrel and, fortunately so, the 30yr all from personal experience. Right now I have the Caribbean and DoubleWood on the shelf at home.
