What does everyone think of this brand? I buy it for the low price. And you know MS isn't really wine central :headroll:

My wife opened a bottle of it this past week ('twas a Cab if I recall correctly). She poured a glass, tasted it...let it sit for a minute to open up....tasted it again...

...and then she poured the remainder of the glass down the drain, put the cork back in the bottle, and deemed it "cooking wine".

LOL

Me personally, I don't know shit about wine and I really don't much care for the stuff...but my wife has around 7 or 8 cases of wine in the house at all times, and I'd say she's a bit of a wine person.

I imagine that as cheap as the Barefoot is, it's probably just fine for the casual wine drinker, but would leave a serious wine enthusiast with a bad taste in their mouth.

FWIW ... if a wine isn't fit to drink, it does not go into anything I'm cooking.
Cooking is sort of like computer data processing = garbage in, garbage out.

You know, it's interesting you say that....she's really particular about her white wines with cooking, but not so much with her reds. I think it has something to do with the stuff she cooks (again, I dunno. I don't really pay attention to all that).

The wife and I enjoyed the Shiraz, but we haven't tried any other one by them yet. So right now based on what we have tried we don't mind it. Our local wine shop seems to sell a lot of it tho.

I tried the Barefoot Merlot tonight. It is definitely drinkable and inoffensive ... but the flavor reminds me of concentrated / frozen grape juice that has been watered down too much.

For value, I generally have been looking toward Argentina, Chile, Italy, New Zealand and Spain. Or in the USA, Columbia Crest (Washington) makes very good wines for around $8 that bring much more aroma and complex flavors.

I acctually had a small painting company named "Barefoot Painting and we gave away a bottle of barefoot Wine to each client when we were done. We were small and startup and thought it was a cute idea. Then we got a Cease and desist letter from Barefoot wines. Since we had some left over, we drank it. Good for the price, but probably not for the experienced drinker
