Has anyone installed a basement bathroom? My family (especially me) is spending a lot of time downstairs lately now that our home theater is set up down there. I have a closet in the basement that I could easily frame out to be a small bathroom. So I'm looking at suitable toilets. What are the different types available? What are the advantages of one over another? Any general advise or tips? Thanks.

I have done many a basement bathrooms. The only thing you need to worry about is the pitch of the pipe when you bust out the floor to do the plumbing. As for toilets, I am a big Kohler fan. But the way I look at it, is if your ass fits on it and it can eat shit, it's a winner.
I did a BAD ASS Masters (Augusta) motief (spelling???) in my basement. It is coooooooooooooool shit.

If you don't wasnt to bust up the floor, you may be able to get a "pump up". Pricier, but no concrete busting.
Not too keen on the idea of putting a hole through the concrete. Prefer to find something I could put in place myself and just hire a plumber for the final hookup. Those Saniflo models look pretty straightforward. Any experience with those?
I am not a big fan of "above ground" plumbing. Just my preference.
I married into an Italian family and learned everything from them. It's a real pain in the ass to do the basement floor. But it is the best way.
