Bearded Dragon Advice?

Just looking for any experience with Beardies...

My son got the set up & needed gear for X-mas & with gift certs... I think we will be going to one of two Reptile expo's this weekend, either Carlisle, PA on Sat morning (Yes, I'm still going to the NJ Herf in the afternoon), or White Plains, NY on Sunday morning. We will be going to one of the expos to hopefully get the lizard - they are usually cheaper & from breeders that breed for distinct characteristics: color, size, features, etc...

Anybody have or have had a Beardie?

My SIL has one, but I don't know any thing except that it is a pretty cool little lizard. She's a total flake and has manged to keep it alive, so I can't imagine it will be too much trouble.

yes the bearded clam requires much more attention and maintnace. If ignored for too long it will leave you and find a new owner.

Advice: don't kiss them. I know a guy who could not figure out why he kept getting salmonella.

Heat is alway important. Mine do not eat bugs. We feed them baby food chicken mixed with baby food sweet potatoes with a syringe. They just started eating the dry pellets. We had to hand feed them cuz they wouldn't eat the crickets/superworms.

We rescued them from various sources.

They slow down in the winter. Kind of like a hibernation.

Dragon~ I should be able to get one from a reputable breeder this weekend - I just know I'll be doing more worrying than my 7 year old!

I have a red star fire. Salad every day crickets every other. they do get lazy in the winter. Make sure you do not use reptical sand. it will bind them up and could kill them.
