Hey fellas,

I know people that have had beetle issues and all about the to-freeze, or not to-freeze debate but I have yet to have beetle issues myself until now.

I bought a sampler from someone and just received the package. The single Tat Black CG that I bought was in a single baggie and I noticed a couple obvious holes in the middle of the cigar and then also one at the foot. What I also found obvious was that the unfinished foot tobacco was missing, I'm thinking the beetles ate it.

None of the other cigars have holes and were in separate baggies. Obviously they were all in the same humidor I'm assuming so who knows if the other cigars might have issues.

So what would you do? Simply try to get a refund and not deal with it? I really like the other cigars and got them at a good price and if I want to keep them, would you trust freezing them and just keeping them isolated for awhile after the freeze?

If a cigar has obvious beetle holes already, should you definitely throw it out? Not so sure I would want to think about smoking a cigar that had beetles in them, but it's a damn Tat Black CG!?! LOL

The few times that I've ever seen a beetle hole, I cut the stick open to see if the f*cker was still in it. I found one once and he died a slow painful death.

I wouldn't smoke it. Yuck.

I would contact the guy you bought it from. if I sold a cigar with beetles, i would definitely try to rectify the situation. I think freezing and isolating the rest is what i would do. Personally, i would not smoke the beetle-infected one, but that is entirely up to you. good luck bro.

I personally would try to get a refund. If the "someone" is not aware of the fact that they have beetle infested cigars they need to be told.

Tatuaje CG Black or not I don't really think you are gonna enjoy it and I know it's not gonna smoke worth a damn anyway!

You never know when one may find it's way to you my friend! :cbig:

i gotta say, if i had a stick that looked like that i would NEVER consider selling it. i might ask if someone wanted it as a freebie hitcher, but that is just wrong to sell.

Sorry to hear that Ryan, yep get a refund. Whoever sold that should have known it. I check all the sticks I send, just to make sure they look decent, no cracking/splitting,etc...

My .02. All cigars have bettle potential. It has to do with heat whether or not they hatch. I would smoke the thing it should be fine. You already smoke the eggs everytime you smoke one anyway. I personally whould not have sent out a stick in that shape. The seller should make it right. the foot of the cigar looks like the tobacco was damaged and fell off the feet on those were very fragile. It was not technically a shag foot, just an bit of uncut cap at the end.

Yeah...As diplomatic as you are trying to be, there is NO way that any seller worth his salt would miss holes like that in a cigar. I call foul.

Get your money back, Bro...Life's too short.

From personal experience I can tell you when a stick has holes like that, it is full of beetle poop. Take that stick and tap the end on a white piece of paper and see for yourself. You can smoke it if you wish, but there is a bit of difference betwen smoking a stick with a few dormant eggs and one with signs of active infestation.

Again, from personal experience = it won't taste very good; Tat or no Tat....

That kind of damage does not happen overnight. The seller should know better.
I bought a box of Zino No.1's a while back. Old stock from a B&M that was shedding some of thier premium lines (These are the old ones in the metal tubes with the slit on the side) stored them for six months in my coolerdor ( climate controlled room) opened the box and 8 where chewed just like that stick. The rest are fine. I did not freeze them just careful inspection and placed them into a desktop where they show no signs of bettle munching to date. I smoke one every month or so.

Yea that's not right. If there a stand up brother/B&M they should make that right with you. I would be pretty upset recieving something like that. It's a good thing you had the damage to see before it went into your humi!

Most cigars, if not all, will have some beetle eggs in them. They are small and cannot be helped. This is why temerpature is so important. Any cigar has the potential for the eggs to hatch and create the larve if they get too warm.

Man. That sucks. Dialog with seller for sure. Hope it goes well.
I normally don't smoke um like that, but my buddies do. Some say it tastes off, others say you can't tell.

Also, if it's someone on here then consider if they sold other sticks recently. Perhaps tell those guys in private.
I think it's better if a guy doesn't get publicly jacked our it. Unless he doesn't give you a satisfactory solution. Then seek guidance from mods maybe.

If I got a package from him I'd like to know. To make sure it doesn't jack everything else.

Damn, Ryan. I hope it gets fixed for you. Being a Tat Black CG, I think I'd give it a lot of consideration before I could bring myself to throw it out!

Seems that since you said the Tat Black with the holes were in a seperate baggie then the others, it would appear the seller knew something was amis. :dunno:

I am still not sure about freezing the others as I am now in the process of testing cigars that were frozen and ones that were not out of a box that my wife marked and knows the codes for the ones that were frozen and the ones that were not. So far out of 8 cigars I could tell the difference between the frozen ones and the not frozen ones.

Its a fair possibility that the others may be infested since they came from the same place but may not be if they were not boxed together.

I do not think I would smoke the holy one but keep a close eye on the others, of course seperated from your main stash.
