Dr. Xikar
The Knife Doctor
Well, today has been the greatest day I can remember and definitely some of the greatest smokes I can remember.
The day started at 10:30am. I met TheGreekOne (Jack) at a B&M in Cleveland a half hour before the pre-determined "Starting time" (Our group of 5 was celebrating two birthdays: mine, and another in the group.) He told me to show up early and bring my travel humidor (That's never a good sign, right?)
I get to the table and he pulls out a Padron Family Reserve '46 Years Maduro with the cute little hammer on it. Just hands it to me and smiles.
Fast forward to 11, and people are showing up now. With the group present, the first round of cigars is ready to begin. I reach for my travel humi to pull out the stick I had brought (Padron x000, can't remember which) and Jack gets another evil glint in his eyes. Out comes a box of Hoyo De Monterey Petit Robustos ('09), and away goes my Padron x000. The Hoyos are passed out by Jack to myself, the other birthday boy, and the others of the group. Thusly armed, we set fire and begin.
Hoyo's ablaze, the food begins to appear. There are skewers of sharp cheddar and salami, along with sliced figs topped with Manchego. Smoked salmon and various cheeses and ciabatta bread... One hell of a table full.
--------------------------------------------
Near the end of the Hoyo's, the beating begins - Along with the Family Reserve from Jack, I was given a CAO Lx2, Padron Anny Maduro, and an Opus X Petit Lancero, along with a 50$ gift certificate to the B&m we were in (Which got me an ashtray and some Cains. I like Cains)
Following the Hoyos, I again reach for my travel humidor. This time another member of the group makes me stop and pulls out a box of T52 Flying Pigs. This is round two. The pigs were enjoyed with liberal amounts of bourbon and coke. Exceptional smoke.
As the day winds to an end, with about an hour and a half till I leave, Jack offers me a last cigar of the day - An Opus X (skinny little 5 incher, can't remember the name) from 09.
An hour's drive back to my house, and I see a package on the doorstep. It's a wonderful little purchase I had made earlier this week that I expected later this week. What perfect timing - 3 Dirty Rats, 2 No. 9 Flying Pigs.
As the title says. Best. Birthday. Ever.
(Pictures in order - Hoyo's and food-skewers, the Figs, The day's beatdown, the day's purchases, the T52s and my new ashtray, and my mail)
Sorry for being so longwinded, but a lot of awesome happened today!
