I've been lurking Cbid for about two months now and haven't registered until this morning. First of all, I see why they call it the "Devil Site." This is definitely going to be a test on my self control

My question is what are some of the different ways people use Cbid? I've checked out the regular auctions, but I've also seen some great deals on the Free Fall also.

Can other Brothers provide me with some tips (aside from the usual "stay on a budget, use at your own risk" type of thing).

Do NOT buy singles on Free Fall
Weekly shipping
Set it and forget it
Best deals are gernerally in Quickies -- but, that means you have to check it daily
Forget about deals on LP's and high-end Fuentes
Be mindful of your cumulative shipping each week -- you can easily erase your savings
Cbid is best if you want a bunch of really cheap cigars on the cheap; few deals on what I consider to be 'better cigars' -- may as well save time (and aggravation) and go to one of our sponsors; I spent years on cbid seeking the holy grail: a perfect $3 cigar -- I had a little success, but at the HUGE cost of smoking a LOT of very crappy cigars

I find weekend nights are the best time to get the best deals, especially the quickies, like Dave said. Always check a few other places for higher end stuff, especially our sponsors, many times they have them at the same price or cheaper. DO NOT BUY STUFF JUST BECAUSE IT'S CHEAP. You will have a bunch of stuff you'll never smoke, not that I would know anything about that.

In case you are also looking for accessories, cbid is a great place to buy cheap lighters, travel humidors and ashtrays. That's pretty much all I use it for now for the reasons others have brought up...

+1 you can get smoking deals on accessories. Great advice from everyone especially dave's about set and forget your bid, bidding wars is how you wind up overpaying.

I've bought a couple things on cbid on the cheap like a black watch 40 cnt travel case for $19 and a box of Fighting Cocks cigars for $16 I know they aren't very good sticks but the SC Gamecocks are my college football team so I'll pass them out during games for shits and giggles. But I know not to get into a bidding war with people cause its not truly worth it most of the time.

There is also an extension for Chrome for free fall, CigarBid Free Fall Plugin

"This plugin monitors a Free Fall Auction on Cigarbid.com and keeps track of the lowest price it has seen. The lowest price information will last as long as the browser window is open and will reset if the auction is refreshed."

In other words, install the extension, then go to the cbid free fall you are interested in, as long as you keep it open, it shows you the lowest price it ever fell to while the window was open.

It was pretty fun at first "winning" a lot of cheap sticks at cheaper than dirt prices but now I've realized that those cheap sticks are cheap because nobody wants them. Buy your yard gars on there and don't fret if you don't win something. It'll be there again.

If you go the free fall route watch it reset itself for like 10 minutes and learn its pattern. I was actually able to score a 10 pack of Uzis for around $30
I've been eyeballing a 5pk of La Riqueza Tat #4 since last night, it gets under $20. I might pull the trigger later today and get 2.
I got em for $19.95 today

All of the above. There are other sites that offer better cigars at comparable prices. Cbid is good for newbies and old men that have nothing better to do than sit there and watch.
