Bombs, Passes, Trades Im confused

I know if I slogged though all the threads I would eventually figure it out. But...I'm lazy. And I'm at work. I sorta get a bomb. Someone jsut surprises a BOTL with some stogies right? Some one break it down Army style for me. School house rock version!

Pass -

How does a pass work?
The host starts with a box of cigars and an order of participants. Once everything's ready to go, the host ships the box off to the first participant. When the participant gets the box, he/she take some of the cigars out and puts in sticks in place of the ones he/she took. Once that's done, they box everything back up, and ships the box pass to the next person in the pass. Each person repeats the process until it gets back to the host.
