New job, new house, and a long drive ahead of me. I applied for a job in the Bay Area (as a computer scientist) back in April, and got an informal offer fairly quickly. While waiting for the formal offer, my wife and I made an offer on a fixer-upper house, which had dropped into our price range thanks to the housing bubble burst. We finally got the official job offer about three weeks ago, and signed the closing papers on the house yesterday. I'm driving out today with the dogs and cat so I can start work on Tuesday, and my wife will fly out with the babies on Wednesday after the movers are done.

Any BOTLs out in that area? I'll be in the Tri-Valley (Dublin/Pleasanton/Livermore) area.

Congrats on the new job! I am sorry you have to move to the bay area though. If you ever want to come into the valley we can meet up and burn some sticks. There is a lounge in Sacramento I usually go to. I will be there tonight and probably this weekend. Also we have a northern CA Herf on the 1st Thursday of the month in downtown Sacramento if your interested. Just shoot me a PM if your ever interested! I will be going to Oakland Wed. for the Twins vs A's game (GO TWINS!!!!) with my 3 brothers. We plan to drink some beer and burn a stick or two in the parking lot before the game if you want to come by.

Congrats on the new job and house. A friend of mine has lived in Pleasanton for a long time and she likes it there a lot. Where are you going to be working?
