OK, so with the other tread about Founders BS, I was wondering if there were other BS's out there or is this the only one. If so I would like to find out which other company's make them and find them as well. I sometime walk into my local store and just walk up and down the isles to find something new. Just looking for some different beers to look for.

Thanks!

J

Founders KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) is what I am currently after. Its a breakfast stout that is aged in bourbon barrels for a year, mmmmmm.

BTW, Release times:

BS: Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec

KBS: March

There was also a CBS (Canadian Breakfast Stout) but I dont really have any info on it besides it is very limited.

Not sure exactly where this is available as it is brewed in Athen, Ga so it's fairly local, but my current favorite it Terrapin's Wake 'N' Bake Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout. It is one of the best stouts I have had... Period.

I think it fits the category.
wake n bake is pretty good and I get alot of their stuff living/working in SC/GA but I think the Founders stouts are on a whole different level.

Keep your eyes peeled for Great Divide Stouts...out of Colorado

They don't have much that would fall into the "Breakfast Stout" category I don't think....but they do have an Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout that is excellent.

Overall, they just do great Stouts IMO (only style I buy from them after trying their other stuff)....and they have several different barrel seasoned offerings.

I'm not familiar with any others that actually bill themselves as a "Breakfast Stout", but Oakshire Brewing out of Eugene, Or makes a really nice Oatmeal Espresso stout. Overcast they call it. Not sure on the availability of this, but it is my go to beer for breakfast time. Being an unemployed, Suzy Home-maker, house-husband at the moment, has given me the oppurtunity to try out some breakfast beers. It's a little lower abv, 5.8%, so I still have the gumption to get my laundry and dishes done, but boy, is it tasty

Just a few off the top of my head:

Aces & Ates Coffee Stout - Big Boss Brewing
Cappuccino Stout - Lagunitas Brewing
Thunderstruck Coffee Porter - Highland Brewing
Espresso Love Breakfast Stout - Arbor Brewing Company
Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout - Flying Dog
Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter - Grand Teton Brewing
Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast Stout - Mikkeller
Mikkeller Geek Breakfast - Mikkeller
Mikkeller Rauch Geek Breakfast - Mikkeller (Smoked version of Geek Breakfast Stout)
Yeti Oak Aged Espresso Stout - Great Divide

I have enjoyed all of them with the only expection being the one from Arbor Brewing Company. The two Porter's on the list are good Coffee beers.

I love the Espresso, as well as the Chocolate Yetis. Great beers!
I've been on the lookout for those ever since I heard about them a year or so ago.

And Fitz... Gee I've never had any Terrapin Wake N Bake or MooHoo :stretchgr

I'd add Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel to that list.

Man I have had half of these but I gotta say that the Founders BS or even better the Terrapin Wake N Bake are in a class all their own.

+1

The mother of all breakfast/brunch stouts... don't plan anything for the rest of your day if you have the bottle by yourself.

I also like Ballast Point's Victory at Sea for breaky... Coffee Vanilla Imperial Porter.
