I just want to publicly say what most if not all of us know already, that Brian and his Black Dog coffee is awesome!

The customer service that is received with Black Dog coffee is almost as good as the coffee itself!!! I have never tasted a better coffee than the coffee I get through Black Dog Coffee. If you haven't tried it yet, you better get a move on!!

Thanks for being a great brother Brian and for making us your wonderful coffee.

Ok, enough with the lovefest!! I need to go make a pot of Costa Rica Monte Crisol.

Well said! I know that whenever I wear my Black Dog Coffee t-shirt it always elicits a lot of comments and I politely point people to Brian's website.

Great Brother...awesome coffee!

Aw! You guys are too much!
Sorry for the delayed response. I've been away and every time I get ready to long on here I'm a little daunted by the pages and pages of posts I need to catch up with!

I'm just glad to hear you're likin' it! That's what it's all about!

I am indeed doing this full time. I'm loving it....but when it has to keep the lights on it does take a lot of work. I've been focusing on getting into local stores. I get a lot of good press here so most everyone is familiar with BDC but many don't know how to get it (i.e. web order/free local delivery). I've got some cool things in the works such as setting up fundraisers for schools, sporting teams, etc., possibility of getting into Whole Foods supermarket, stores actually contacting me and stuff.
The fundraiser idea is pretty cool. If it works I can take it to schools all over the area. It has the benefit of being great for the organization using it (they'd make like $2 a bag) and gives me great exposure without having to advertise. I know I'd much rather have bought coffee from my neices and nephews rather than all that gift wrap, magazine subscriptions and stuff I bought over the years to support their schools.

You get a Whole Foods deal, you're gonna need a bigger roaster! That would be a good problem to have!

Well done Tubaman - Brian is indeed "da man".

Well, I have been looking at Black Dog for a little bit now, and was looking to get some to sample, and try out as my new improved (I am assuming from the high recomendations), this to be a morning Cup of coffee.

I don't drink alot, just one cup a day usually, sometimes one in the afternoon on a weekend.

I want to get a little setup that I can make a delicious cup of coffe and make all my co workers jelous.

Problem One:
The bean... I need some advice here, I have no clue what the different flavor profiles really mean:
http://www.blackdogcoffee.net/index.php?crn=205

I like a strong cup of coffee, very little sugar, and no milk.

I like using a french press, but I dont know if all the coffees here are made for that purpose?

Anyway... So what' s the buying advice? What should I get for my first buy?

I saw the sampler pack... but then I alwasy forget what I like by the end of the sampler. I would prefder jsut to sample 2-3 Strong but flavorful cofffees.

I like a lot of aroma, so that all those nearby know my cup of coffee is better than theirs.

And I think ill get a press: http://www.blackdogcoffee.net/index.php?crn=211&rn=397&action=show_detail

To put at my desk... I might start drinking 2--3 cups instead of 1 then.

But that won't keep the cup hot, so maybe thats a waste.

I am not a coffee drinker myself, but I know several folks who are big coffee-aholics. Can you recommend a nice sampler that I could send to some folks or ???

Thanks bro!

Hi Smurf,
Based on what you've posted here, I'd try the Sumatra and the Kenya. You can order individual sample sizes as well so you don't have to get the entire set. I also always recommend that people try Yemen. It's a truly unique and very flavorful coffee and there's not always a good one around.

As for brewing at your desk, I'm assuming you already have a way to heat water if you're considering a press (it needs to be just under boiling). In an office environment and considering that you are rightly concerned about what's not in your mug getting cold, I'd go for the SwissGold KF300 1-cup brewer. That way you're only brewing what you need for each cup and the clean up is much easier than the press. It brews a great cup of coffee and requires no filters. I use mine all the time to sample the various coffees as I go along (easier than doing formal cupping everyday. I usually only cup when selecting and determining roast levels, and for notes)
Let me know if I may be of any service!

Yo, BamaRed!
There is the option on the site of individual or the complete sampler pack. If you're not sure what coffees your friends may want you may not want to get the entire set. If in doubt, I'd stick with the Centrals (Guat, Costa Rica, Panama) and you may want to consider the Sumatra since it's a darker roast and many people are hooked on that. It's not CharBucks dark, not a french roast either, but is the darkest I do.....although I am considering a super dark for Dogwatch Dale! Maybe I'll call it DogWatch Dark :)

Now you're talkin'! I'd be honored!

I know I've been campaigning for a nice dark roast. I can't wait to see what you might come up with!
