Yesterday I had a few sticks with the boys and I noticed after my 3rd or 4th cigar, my taste buds were worn out and I was wondering if anyone else experiences that. I even went "lightest to strongest", but it didn't seem to matter. I am thinking I will have to limit myself during "guys night". I have had very heavy cigar days but I think those days are behind me...:cbig:

I usually only smoke 1 or 2 cigars every week because I'm afraid of overworking my taste buds but I do find my sensitivity changes the closer to the end I smoke one. Do you smoke your cigars until they're as small as possible? Maybe it's the increased heat you draw in the last bit? At least for me that's what it seems to be. . . although I'm not too willing to leave much of a good smoke behind because i want to get the most out of it.

it is a lot easier to do CCs back to back than NCs, mostly due to raw power, but everyone eventually hits a wall. going lightest to fullest can help, like in tasting any spirits, or coffee for that matter. then again, if iris just you having a day of it, and you are not burning them to take notes, try this: go best to most common. burn a rock star smoke to start out, then progress into every day smokes that you know well. let's be honest, in a situation like that it can be nice just sitting around throwing smoke and hanging out, and in that sense you did get your money's worth out of those smokes.

I once had a run to where everthing was muted in flavor. My best recommendation is to take a few weeks off and come back to it; everything will taste fresh again after that!

+1; taking a few days is alright but the longer you take the better (hard I know!) I burned out my palate last night and Im going to try to take a week off so I can smoke my Mummies! haha

I don't do more than one or two smokes a day because of this. I also try to take a day or two off a week. The break always makes that first smoke so much enjoyable.

When you get past 2 cigars then yeah....you're pushing the envelope where your taste buds are concerned. I learned some time ago that the right libation will help protect those sensitive taste buds...hot smoke is an irritant to the tissues in your mouth, tongue and throat so having something to wash or cool it down is the way to go. I tried a drink called Amarula...( will show a photo ) and it's usually an after dinner drink..tastes much better than Baileys and I drink it cold...it coats the mouth and all of the tissues which help keep the smoke cool and lets it have a good finish which is what I like with a cigar. Some cigars just don't leave a good finish but with this drink it's like a magnet that keeps that taste rich and alive and more enjoyable.

I had one of these nights about a month ago. Not sure if the nicotine was getting to me or what, but I took a couple days off and was fine after that.
