I know my CA brethern will vote no on this but we need to convince others in CA to vote no. This will have a big impact on our wallets as well as B&M's. Not only will this be another tax on us but the money will be spent out of the state and even out of the country. None of it will go towards cancer research. 300 million will be allocated for offices and another 200 million for hiring and other expenses. Please get the word out on this. JC Newman has been very helpful in fighting this. I have asked what the CRA has been doing but they will not answer me.

I agree 100%. This is typical California big government. On a positive note... the "No On 29" crew is well-funded and their commercials are effective. Even big government types are against it because much of the money raised would leave the state. On the downside...the tax is inevitable. If they don't succeed this time, they will re-package it and put it on the next ballot. I just hope it's delayed long enough for me to retire and get the hell out of this state. I'll miss the weather, that's for sure.

Even the California government voter guide web site seems to be against it!

"Everyone supports cancer research, but Prop. 29 is flawed: $735 million annually in new taxes but doesn’t require revenue be spent in California to create jobs or fund schools. Creates new government spending bureaucracy with political appointees, duplicating existing programs. More waste, no accountability to taxpayers. No on 29. ReadForYourself.org"

Yup, about 60,000 votes are keeping this tax from passing. Hopefully no funny stuff happens between now and when it is certified. All I can say is Lance Armstrong and those other jackass celebrities who don't live in CA but were in the commercials can go pound sand.
