Our Union is getting close to entering into contract negotiations and on the heel of what the City of Sacramento did last night (approved employee buyout plan, see www.sacbee.com if you are interested).

If you click on highest paid workers outside the UC you will see that those in Corrections are raking in the dough!

As a government employee Open Government is a hot topic... If you want to know what an employee makes in your City (particularly if you live in CA) go to you City's website.

Here's a link to ours: http://agency.governmentjobs.com/stockton/default.cfm?action=agencyspecs

Remember... we are a PERS agency and therefore do not pay into Social Security.

I am as I came into Public Sector after 20 years in Private Sector. There is a formula should I retire from here, that will be used to offset my Social Security benefits (as if) from that of PERS.

The advantage for PERS is if you are in Public Safety (Police/Fire) they can retire after 20 years or so with 103% of their annual salary!
