Short backstory- I got out of cigars a few years ago and sold my box and sticks... But I was in LOVE with the Padilla line. Not all of it, but most of it.

68's
32's
Dominus
Miami 8&11

So on and so forth. If I made a top ten list of my all time favorite sticks, at least 3 of those I just mentioned are on it.

I know a little bit of the backstory of him teaming up with Oliva. My question is: what's the general consensus on all the new sticks? I'd be especially interested in hearing from those folks out there who really enjoyed his line. I know most only liked 1 or 2, or none at all. And I'd like your input too. But if you loved Padillas- what do you think of them now?

Lastly, does anyone know of a source out there that still would have any stock? I'm not real familiar with how long ago this switch happened, but I haven't located any.

I honestly don't know the answer without doing some research, sorry. All I do know is that they switched who was actually making their cigars a few times a couple years ago and I lost track on what they're doing now. I loved the Pepin Garcia made Padilla 8&11's, one of the better NC's in my opinion.

Some of us smoke with the Southern California Oliva rep from time to time when he is in town. He has clued us in a bit, but I don't really remember that much. Basically, most everything is being made at Oliva or El Titan de Bronze (I think). I tried the new "Connecticut" it is has some bit for a natural/connie-wrapped stick. Other than that, I can't keep track of what was from when and who made it... all too confusing, really.

I share your opinion. DPG rolled Padilla cigars up until 2008. Padilla left DPG because DPG was expanding and Padilla felt he could do it better on his own, so he started a factory in Miami. Since then he's shifted manufacturing to a few different places but the cigars, IMHO, are no where near as good as they were when they were rolled by DPG. The Pepin rolled 32s and Miamis are top-notch. The following is helpful.

Yes I remember those being top notch. But I was still pretty smitten with most of the line after that. The 68 was always my go-to stick. The Dominus I thought was a spectacular maduro. I'm just wondering where these new offerings stack up with either the dpg rolled or after that. I'm sure they're good (most everything Oliva does is). But the price tag has doubled at least so it has me wondering

Thanks for the wiki link... after reading it, it looks like he's rolling NO sticks in his Miami facilities anymore? It's all rolled at El Titan it seems. Shame though, I was in his shop one time and it was a good atmostphere.

There is a new 8&11 they're rolling, came out two years ago, I think. I don't think they're rolling it anymore.

Not sure, but this is from Ernesto:

"First introduced in 2005 and garnering a 94 rating and a top 25 cigar of the year by CA.....Today still handcrafted in Miami by a select few of Cuba's Master-Rollers"
