So, For some reason the Candella wrapped cigars are always associated with the St Patrick's day holiday, i guess because they are green. Every year I think to myself that I should pick a few up and fire one up with friends. I'm never brave enough to actually pull the trigger on these scary sticks. Anyone else bail out on a purchase, or anyone have a decent story with one of these sticks. Nobody seems to be head over heals. Any worth not ruining the night over?

I enjoyed an asylum 13 ogre robusto last year and have one that's been resting since then for this year.

I thought that the Illusione 88 candela was pretty decent but have not been impressed with too many others. The last time that I had one of the AB Filthy Hooligans was about 3 years ago (before they made it a barber pole) and it pretty much blew up on me.

I've got an AB Black Market Filthy Hooligan from about 3 years ago in my humidor. I think this will be the year I break it out and try my first candela wrapped cigar.

If yours is 3 years old, I believe that's an OR. The 2nd year was decent, had a "sweeter" flavor to it - but that first year was the best IMO. This from a guy that doesn't smoke many candelas, FWIW.

I'm not a candela fan, and only have one related story. When my son was a month old, Dion Giolito posted a contest on Twitter iirc... he said to post your best St. Patrick's day pic to win a prize. I just happened to have a candela ~88~, and decided to start the tradition of using my son for my personal benefit and posted the pic below. I won the contest, and he sent me a 10-pack of Illusione candelas in different sizes... Gotta love the look on my son's face! He just turned 5 this past Feb 18, and it is hard for me to remember him that little! :)

I won 8 of those at auction, and really enjoyed them. Since it's a Nicaraguan habano and candela baberpole, the habano wrapper leaf adds depth and character to the somewhat bland and grassy candela leaf. A good choice for someone who is not really a candela fan, to enjoy on St. Patty's Day.

For the candela fans, I have enjoyed a few Fuente 8-5-8 candelas.
