Origin: Nicaragua
Vitola: 5 * 50 rg
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Cameroon
Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan
Date Smoked: 16/2/17
Appearance and Construction:
Awesome looking cigar, with it being only wrapped 3/4 of its length, leaving a section of the foot end as binder and filler only. Wrapper is nice and oily, with a nice maduro colour, even though this is not the maduro version hah. A couple of small veins present, feels very hard, may be a touch overfilled.
Prelight:
Draw is pretty tight, but manageable. Wrapper smells of chocolate and honey, with strong barnyard notes from the binder and foot.
First Third:
Initial leather and chocolate, faint honey sweetness and black pepper spice on the retrohale. Awesome. Slight nutmeg note becomes present as the smoke progresses through the third. Burn gets a bit wonky at the point where the burn line meets the wrapper, but no touch up is needed. As the wrapper burns, a strong espresso note is added to the mix. Body medium, strength light-med. Quite a complex cigar so far.
Second Third:
Body increasing to the upper end of medium, strength does the same. Honey sweetness, espresso, chocolate and nutmeg are the prominent flavours. Spice on retrohale has almost disappeared, leaving the smoke very smooth. Faint leather note only present intermittently in the background.
Final Third:
Leather no longer present. Not much change in flavour from second third. This is not a bad thing though.
- Great cigar. I really enjoyed this smoke, and would definitely rate the blend as box worthy.
