So normally when I feel like buying some cigars I get on cbid and place 10-12 bids on different boxes. I bid very cheaply and every now and then might get a box or two for a steal but most often I don't win any of them. Anyways I did this last night and ended up winning 5 boxes in one night. It ended up being more than I wanted to spend but hey they were all awesome prices with the best being a box of padilla cazadores for $49. How do you guys do it?

I'll take that strategy under advisement as I just went on that site for the first time today.....and I think that was a bad idea. I was looking for a cutter, guess its time to step up from the disposable thats starting to crimp my cigars, and it might be the beginning of the end:timebomb:

I did the same as you and ended up winning too much. I try to stay away from those auction sites now.

I almost never bid more than 60% MSRP, unless I am out, and realy want them. That being said I win more than you would expect. At any given time I have 5 to 10 bids going.

I've only bought one thing from them, but I paid way less than MSRP.

If you win too much, throw the excess up on the BST forum. I'm sure others would love to partake of the fruits of your good fortune.

My first time there I put in a $55 bid on a box of AB SCR robustos when they first came out. I forgot all about it (I was sure I would lose), and 3 days later I got an email that I won.

First and last time I've bought a box of a cigar I've never tried!

You need to be careful over there. There's some great deals to be had, but I've seen plenty of things go above retail. Things that were in stock at CI at the time!

The trick is to avoid auction fever I suppose.

The wife did that on Ebay once. she bid on several of the the same type item figuring she would lose a few, nope 5 shabby sheik bathroom shelves, coming from all over the country. Ebay 101, was our next conversation

I only hunt particular things on there... otherwise I dont browse otherwise I'll wind up with all kinds of crap.

Picked up a box of La Riqueza #1 last night for $118 though. Not bad.... less than the lowest Ive ever seen them.

I've gotten a lot of good deals in the past, but I haven't placed a bid in close to a year. Just don't get into bidding wars. I've always bid once and forget about it.

I have used them for a couple of years and my strategy is to go in one some of the specials they have early. I don't bother going the month of December as too many on and running prices up. Just after the holidays is a good time as most don't want to spend money. I will watch a lot I am interested in and in the last hour I bid. This way I do not run the price up. I buy most of my stuff at 60 -65% MSRP.
