Howdy All:

I hope you are doing great.

My family and I just returned from an 18 day family vacation that involved a few hotel nights in Spain and a 12 night Mediterranean cruise. We flew into Madrid and went to our hotel and checked in and then to a museum. After this my wife and kids were ready for a nap so I took off on the Metro to two of my favorite cigar shops in Madrid.

Cave-Estance
Cardenal Cisneros, 17

and

Cava de Magallanes
Calle Magallanes, 16

I bought several cigars from both shops. I got some Montecristo Edmundos, Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills, a few others and one Cohiba Genios because I have been wanting to try one.

We were staying at the Westin Palace in Madrid which was a beautiful hotel. They also featured a smoking room a big plus. I decided to try the Cohiba and went down with my wife and a bottle of wine. The room featured high ceilings (maybe 20ft) and nice artwork hung up around the room and several tables with four chairs each. It was a great time with my wife in a great room and a good start to our trip. The cigar, however, did not impress me and I am glad I tried one before buying a box.

The next night found my family and I in Barcelona staying at a very nice Hilton. They offered an executive lounge on the 15th floor with a large covered patio area overlooking the Medditeranean. I enjoyed a Short Churchhill with my wife and youngest son enjoying the complimentary Port and snacks from the lounge.

After this we spent 12 nights on the NCL Jade. The ship had a Corona Cigar lounge and I went down to check it out our first day only to find out that they no longer offered cigar smoking. The only place to smoke cigars on the boat was an outdoor area that was covered up on the 13th floor. I ended up hear every day of the cruise, usually at night. I enjoyed many fine CC along with some great Spanish wine and time with my wife and sometimes one of my sons.

Our last night of the trip we were staying at a Holiday Inn Express where I was not expecting a lot. But I was pleasantly surprised when I came down to talk to the hotel attendant and he noticed the Cohiba Siglo VI in my hand and started talking about his Cuban wife and his trips to Cuba. He then opened up the outdoor deck area and allowed me to take a chair out to relax and enjoy my smoke with my wife and youngest son.

All in all, it was a fantastic trip on so many levels and the CC time was an important part to me that was enjoyable and provided some great time with my family.

Best regards, tony

Sounds like a great trip. I share the same views on the cohiba maduro line. They lack something and frankly they seem to be targeting a different customer base with this line (a certain nation closer to the Cuban borders). I like the edmundos and hope that you got a box of these.
