Pardon my lack of knowledge on this, but been wanting to ask this for a bit.

I have seen the Romeo y Julieta Cazadore in the past in person with no band, but I noticed about a year ago there are pics floating around online of the cigar with a band. I always passed it off as maybe it was just stock images of another cigar. However, I am finding more often lately the pics are with a band.

Did the RyJ Cazadore switch to a banded cigar, and if so when?

Yes, it switched to being banded a few years ago, as well as most cabs of cigars that were previously unbanded, I imagine as an anti-counterfeiting measure.

Definitely a banded cigar, recently bought a box of 11's with bands on.
As did I (my first box of them). While we're on the topic, does anyone know why Cazadores come packaged in an inner foil wrap? I imagine it's to keep them fresher, but why don't other CCs come this way then? (Especially considering that Cazadores are on the cheaper end of things)

My guess is that since this is considered among the strongest CC, they pack them in foil to preserve that strength.

Isn't Jagermeister spelled with a "J"?

MRN says basically the same thing... the stronger blend for RyJ. The book also mentions that the foil it's meant for aging. I looked this up about 6 months ago when I picked up a some in a box split with another BOTL.

I think they are wet packed. Remember Pete making a comment long ago about how it was one of his favorite CC's due to that.

Thanks for the info guys. Didn't realize the few that I smoked had that many years on them and all the pictures I have seen lately showed with bands.

At just under $200 a box I am not sure I would consider them a "cheap" cigar though. I remember the good old days when CC's were cheaper than NC's, but it seems like the playing field is starting to level.

Price is relative. They are cheap compared to the new releases because nowadays its all about the 6+ inches and 52+ rg cigars which are obviously going to cost more money. Only way to really break the pattern is to stop buying those large sticks but every single 'show your latest CC purchase thread' has people buying the large stuff that almost everyone universally states they do not enjoy. I'm guilty of it too. I bought 3 boxes of the VR Sublimes, then was like damn I am one of them then proceeded to buy 3 boxes of lonsdales to make up for it!
