I remember chatting with Mark at Tower cigars several years ago, and he was telling me about how he bought a cigar line called Chaveta. The line is Dominican, made by Flores Y Rodgrguez (parent company of PDR).

Just wondering if anyone has tried one?

Yes, but a long time ago. Was decent but I wasn't an elitist snob about cigars back then.

They were blended and developed by a guy in Knoxville, TN, who used to be part owner of Silo Cigars. He's since sold the brand and the shop. The guys at tower bought chaveta. PDR rolled, maybe still rolls them. They're available at several places in Knoxville. They're okay. My impression is they're a lot like other blends that are good, make a bit of splash when they debut, but are then destined for obscurity--read here La Duana ans CyB, both decent budget sticks that got some attention when released but are now lost in a sea of decent budget sticks. The only thing I really remember is that they had a lemon zest taste that was nice.

These are still made by PDR. I really enjoy the robusto... Strongest of the line IMHO, and the CG. The Churchill is a go to slow burner I bring along when I play golf. The flavors are rich and chewy like you would expect from stuff made by PDR. Worth a try if you haven't yet...
