If I did this right, this is a video of a kid that I started just a few years ago on mallet percussion. The orchestra isn't that good, so don't pay attention to that, just get a load at how fast this kid is flying around on the xylophone. The wild thing is, he is a much more talented artist than he is a musician!!!

I think he has what it takes.

Because at his age, he has some maturity in his performance. You can feel the intensity of his playing, I've noted no obvious mistakes and unlike some of his co-orchestra members, he also looks up at the Conductor which means he has presence of mind. Sure.. the orchestra were rushing through the music, so the beat was faster than what it should be. But he manages to run with the orchestra (which is at a faster beat), make no obvious mistakes and still manages to look at the Conductor (for guidance).
