About a month ago something caught my eye at the local b&m. It was a chimay sampler pack that includes a glass. I purchased it on a whim not being much of a Belgium brew lover at all. I tend to prefer my beers to be robust and full of kick. Like my cigars when flavor lacks go dark. So here is my lil review of these lil monastery delights.

To begin was the Chimay Ale Abbey de Scourmont (white label). Was quite a treat having had my pallet kick started by some Guinness foreign stout earlier in the day. It was like desert in a bottle. Smooth creamy almost like the icing on a cinnabon. Not my usual venture but a welcome surprising delectable treat after dinner.
The following day I chose the Chimay abbey de Scourmont (red label). Again a delicious treat but not as creamy as the white with an almost dry desert taste. Flavors not as prominent but a mellow brew which is fabulous for those rainy days.
Finally the chimay abbey de Scourmont (blue label). This one is quite the tease. Holding true with its red Belgian brethren it was smooth without the dry finish. Almost no head and after taste that lingers in your throat it was the full generic ale of the litter. Not necessarily a bad thing just a commonly good drink with all the characteristics of Belgium
As for my pick I enjoyed the white label the most. Being more of a hoppy bottom I could see my self venturing into the world of Belgian ales with a romp in creamy heaven. I suggest you pick up all 3 and decide for yourself which takes the gold. If you petty a wiley and decide to pounce don't hesitate to grab this bunch. Thanks for sticking with me and I hope you enjoyed this lil wild hair of mine. Goodnight.
