We set up a fake one for the first time. A nine foot prelit from Costco and I need to get a dimmer for the damned thing...almost need a pair of sunglasse to look at it!

1800 lights! WTF needs that many lights on a tree!?

I actually sold Christmas trees in my younger less responsible days. You just can't beat a fresh frazier fir. Although the blue spruce was my next favorite followed by the norway spruce. Now I have too many animals in the house. Live trees is their equivalent to crack cocaine, so in everybody's interest we have the 8' pre-lit faker. Hardly ever needs water.

There's not much mess with a real tree. If you keep it well watered the needles stay on. When you are ready to take it outside, just wrap it up in a tarp.

Exactly, I go to the nursery and pick up the cuttings from the bottom of the trees. Fresh and free.
Good idea

one thing I do like about a real tree, when it's dead and dry, it'll burn for a while, lots of fun, but I don't live on 40 acres anymore, I now live in an apartment within city limits, fake it is

Spoken from someone who hasn't had a 15lb cat decide to scale that bad boy in the middle of the night. Tree tipped over, huge noise, me scared shitless with a firearm ready to shoot whomever is breaking in. It's kinda comical now that I think about it.
