I will be linking to the various other Cigar Blogs on the BOTL Blog (launching soon) and would like everyone to help chip in and compile a list of all the ones out there. Be sure to plug your own if you have a cigar-related blog and I hope you return the favor.

If you're interested in blogging on the BOTL Blog and you are adept at using a MySQL client please LMK.

The blog software we'll be using is one I developed for my personal site and as such, doesn't yet have a pretty web interface login/post/update. I'm working on a desktop application to do that though. Once I get done with that, I'll let you know.

I was hoping was hoping we could have the url's posted here as well for reference. That and it saves me alot of time looking up all the links.

I don't see the BOTL Blog competiting with the other cigar blogs since it will be mainly about the site, what's going on behind the scenes, etc.

I don't see the BOTL Blog competiting with the other cigar blogs since it will be mainly about the site, what's going on behind the scenes, etc.

Actually you could use the rss feeds from all these and have the latest headlines on a sidebar or something, that would be cool.

I normally monitor them all from my newsreader so I can cross-post stories

I don't think it's reinventing the wheel since I developed it before WP was around. While it doesn't have 90% of the features WP does, it works well because I know exactly what it does. ANd that's okay too since I can program exactly what I want rather than have stuff I don't want. I can design around the php code rather than using a crummy web interface to tweak templates.

But the most important thing about using custom-rolled software is for integration with vBulletin. There's no WP/vBulletin integration available and has been that way for some time.

This is not to say WP is an awesome piece of software. In fact, I've tried just about all of them and WP is the best in terms of features, install and upkeep.
