Some are made of wood and some cardboard.
this is what i am trying to find out...the boxes I have seem to be wood but look more like two sheets with filler in between...can I use them in a tupperdor for cedar?

I would only use solid Spanish cedar.

Any cardboard would be subject to absoprption of water, which would lead to mold, warping, etc.

As you probably already know, Spanish cedar is used for it's resistance to mold, mildew and warping when exposed to humidity. It also helps to mature/age cigars.

I have a few boxes of smokes that I bought that came in the paper covered boxes, not sure if they are cardboard or not but it doesnt matter to me lol. If they were good enough to be shipped and sold that way they are good enough to stay that way. I think people sometimes put too much thought into this.

I would not go out of my way to buy these boxes when plain cedar boxes are just as easily available but if they come that way, leave em.

I agree Justin, but if you want some cedar in a tupperdor, you don't want to use a cardboard box. One of my first boxes was La Vieja Havana, and it's like a cereal box. In order to add the cedar small and feel to a plastic box, I would get a plain cedar box. Like Tatuaje, or Viaje.

I have both cardboard and cedar boxes in my cooledor. The cardboard will be fine. The nice thing about cedar is that it absorbs and hold moisture so it helps regulate the humidity. And it smell nice.
