I'm not sure if this is the right forum, so please forgive me if I have posted in error.

Does anyone have any experience with cigar candles? Specifically the type that claim to absorb the smoke odor in a room?

The reason I ask is because the apartment I am in does not allow smoking indoors. With the colder months fast approaching, I am looking for alternatives.

Thanks!! :timebomb:

Hmmm, no experience with the candles...though I think you'd be better off with those air cleaners you get at places like ...dang....blanking on the name...those gadget stores that are in all the malls? Also, there are smoke eater ash trays....some of the other bro's here will have better info, I don't smoke inside (Florida, I have that luxury)...

Ooh, I like this candle sounding thing. I have the same situation. Apartment with a no smoking segment of the lease. My landlord's a cigar smoker so he's cool with it but he said if anyone else complains I'm in a bit of trouble.
I like the sound of an air cleaner/ smoke eater but my local smoke shop has got a eater and it absolutely sucks so I'm a bit hesitant of them. Good topic New guy!

Dang! You guys respond fast!!

I would much prefer to smoke outside, it is the place of choice for me. There is something about enjoying a cigar and watching the sky turn colors with the sunset.

But with Oklahoma winter on the way, things can get downright chilly. Just looking for extra options.

Oh, and plus the fiance/wife to be doesn't like the smoke smell in the house (although I have talked her into smoking once!).

The air cleaners will do a good job of removing the smoke from the air but the smell still lingers for a few days.

I know this first hand cause my uncle was visiting one day and brought cigars. My stepmom was like "you can smoke inside" which was weird because she is hyper sensitive about smells. Well she went upstairs and brought down the large Ionic breeze thing and turned it on when we started smoking. All the smoke got sucked right into it and the air was pretty clear a minute or so after it was filled with smoke. The house just smelled like cigars for a few days to a week. So if you don't smoke often it might work, or if you stop smoking inside a month or so before the lease is due or something.

Good post Joshua...that is what I was thinking.

I have seen these candles at jrcigar and bargain humidors and thought it must be too good to be true.

Anyone have success with these?

Nice topic!

I have two candles that were part some packages I bought from Holt's but I haven't tried them yet. One has a screw on lid and is also sold as a travelers candle, which I've never heard of. It might be nice if you get stuck in a nasty smelling hotel room to light it up. I'll report back if I ever use them.

I was hoping to see a reply on these "Smoker Cloakers" that are being sold. They are ozone based purifiers which sound interesting but was wondering if they really worked. Anybody use one?

I bought a humi from bargain humirors and when the sent the box they also threw in a candle. I dont smoke inside at home (wife would kill me)
but I do smoke in my office at work. And the candle worked decent.

My experience with the candles is that they don't take the smell out, but do a decent job of covering it up.

If anything they smell pretty nice.

the smoke and the smell will penetrate everything. walls, paper, furniture, the foam under the carpet, etc. as others have said the candle will only mask the smell. I smoke at a lounge that has two heavy duty smoke extractors/filters. the air is always clear but it still smells like cigars in there. it is really noticeable after I've been away for a week.

if you don't want your place to smell like smoke or cigars, do not smoke inside.

My understanding of air cleaners is the Ionic Breeze is barely more effective than most cheap models in tests. There are professional models that cost $3-400 that do clean the air but most of the hype over the Breeze is just that. Your milage may vary.

I smoked a cigar in my bedroom several weeks ago with a fan in the window and one running in the room and it still smelled like stale cigar for a week.

Yeah i have never used one of the "Cigar Candles" but i am also looking for away to smoke indoors as i live with my parents. A few Saturdays ago they went away and i put a window fan in the top part of my windows (i think its better there because smoke rises) one blowing at that fan and i had a tiny desk air purifier going. I smoked a half a pack of backwoods and 3 Assorted Toros that one night. After letting the fans run all night all you could smell was the backwoods, and it took me 3 days of open windows and pretty much having some sort of candle burning for 3 days to clear the smell out. But it was well worth it.
