Cigar Production Date

Hey guy so I have been smoking cigars for a little over a month now and up until recently was only buying singles. Last week I bought my first box of the Punch London Club EMS which are great with a Tim Horton's coffee which is why I bought them in the first place. I was so excited when I was buying I didn't even think about find out how old they were until I got home. Now I knew cuban cigar boxes have the date stamped on the bottom of the box and kind of assumed it would be them same with other countries but it's not. Is there anyway to find out when they were made or do I just call the store and find out how long he's had them for and than maybe add another month since most companies age them for about 30 days anyways? Also since I am already on the topic of "age" what conditions do you guys keep for aging your cigars?

Not really. Even if the store has had them, who knows how long the distributor had them in the warehouse. It's one of the problems with the NC world, but they really have no incentive to change. Some smaller manufacturers are moving that direction (think Warped, Tatuaje, Dunbaron), but definitely not the big boys.

Depends what you mean by aging. Do you mean a few months? Years? Most guys here will store in the mid 60's both for aging and for storage, with some up or down depending on personal preferences.

Depends what you mean by aging. Do you mean a few months? Years? Most guys here will store in the mid 60's both for aging and for storage, with some up or down depending on personal preferences.

I don't understand why they wouldn't stamp them with a date this would be an extra selling point no? Just like tge Bolivar Royal Coronas I found yesterday at the store stamped November 2015. That made me instantly buy it. Now I dont know if this is usual because it was the first time I thought about checking the date. But it ended up being my now favourite cigar and all I can think about is buying up the rest of that box.

I do enjoy them lol. But I've started thinking about aging my cigars when I buy boxes. I guess I may have to just ask the store owner how long he's had the box for and than just right down that date on the box.

Your Punch are ready to smoke. Age of NCs is really hard to figure,unless it is a stick that just came out.
There will be minimal improvement of these in the first several years,and you will have forgotten them and be on a whole different level a year from now.
Buying boxes at this stage is not recommended, unless it is something to put away for the potential improvement you can achieve in 3 to 5 years.
Cohiba,Montecristo,Partagas,have the track records to merit consideration, as well as lots of other Ccs.
NC sticks that are very strong now will mellow and grow in complexity over a few years,perhaps something along those lines.
I recommend starting a split to enjoy sharing out boxes with other enthusiasts, offer trades of 5ers and get a group together, it is a lot of fun and very rewarding ......

I didn't buy this specific box to age. I bought them to smoke with a Tim Horton's coffee because they pair well in my opinion. Thank you for your input much appreciated!

Well first of all it would be extra logistics, but I suspect more than that it would encourage the idea that unique boxes and codes are more desirable or less sought after. They deal in large scale, mass produced product, so homogeneity is the goal for them when it comes to products and appearance. They don't want you knowing this store has fresher stock or that store has aged stock, or what the difference is. They don't want anyone knowing this product is really moving and that product isn't moving. They want you to buy into a brand and not worry about production dates.

Either way, unless you're going to smoke that in a month or two, it's better to wait to buy a box.

I wish they would date the boxes. I loved punch cigars and about 8 years ago I purchased a box of elites that arrived with mold present that the online retailer said was plume or Blume. It was mold. Haven't purchased any punch cigars since and won't deal with the retailer as well. I wish they were dated in some way.
