Hello fellow BOTL's! Thanks to those who responded to my request for help seasoning my humidor (Treinenwj, Chrisso, and GoingPostal) I'm now ready to stock my 100 count humidor with cigars! At the moment I have almost no experience smoking sticks except for the 1 Cohiba I smoked in May (still do not know what kind it is to this day). My current goal is to gage what my taste in cigars is by buying singles of several kinds (or 5 packs), and smoke them all to see which I enjoy most. After that, I will start buying boxes of my favorites and probably upgrade to a bigger humidor because I anticipate my current one won't be enough space (which I am already looking forward to). I'm looking to try 10 different sticks but so far can only think of 6:

1. Arturo Fuente Maduro Chateau Fuente
2. Davidoff Puro D'Oro Notables
3. Perdomo Reserve 10 Year Anniversary Maduro Churchill
4. Warlock
5. Partagas Serie D No. 4 (thanks bdc30 :)
6. Montecristo #2 (thanks bdc30 :)
7.
8.
9.
10.

If I could get your help with suggestions for what to try I'll be forever greatful! At the moment I don't have a preference but would like the flavor profiles of what I try to vary as much as possible. I'm also curious about trying at least 1 cigar that will knock me on my ass :-D I also have my whiskey rocks already chilled in the freezer, if you would like to suggest a drink to accompany a good smoke please do so. Any and all suggestions are welcome (especially if that means I will try more than 10).

Thanks again to everyone, you are the best.

-Wendy

Oh man... You are looking straight down the slippery slope! I remember when I was in your shoes...

So my first suggestion is to skip the Warlocks... or smoke one before you commit to a 5-er.

THEN:
Don Pepin Garcia Blue Torp
Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970 Gran Consul (it is a popular size, but I prefer the churchill)
Tatuaje Havana VI torp
Tatuaje Unicos
LP #9
Undercrown Corona Viva
...

Oh man, the list could go on forever. Good luck!

My suggestion is this...fwiw... get some samplers online, will give you a good variety to narrow down your taste/palate preferences. I would suggest anything from El Titan De Bronze (can't get em online as far as i know). If you want a cigar to knock you on your ass try the Cu-Avana Punisher. I've been smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for a few years (i know i know...quitting in two weeks time.) and have smoked cigars for ten plus but really got into it heavy the last two and it's the only cigar i've had that i thought i might have to walk away from! Then halwfay through it mellowed just enough to finish and had a great full bodied flavor! IMO. Hey if ya don't try as many different kinds/brands/sizes as you can you'll never know what suits you best. Everyone says "this is the the best cigar ever" "this is the best vitola" just try as many as you can and smoke what you like! What matters is YOUR satisfaction!

Brisbane. Australia.
You need to add Padron 1964 anniversario (maduro) (pick your favorite size) and Liga Privada #9 (pick your favorite size).
^nailed it! (tho anything LP will be fine)

Pardon 000(thousand) series, Paul Stulac Angel, Tat Brown Label.

Oh, if you gonna try the Perdomo 10th Ann. Maduro, grab a Robusto size...NOT the churchill as its a 7x54...that'll knock you for six!

All great suggestions above. I'd add trying any Illusione. Now, I thought I heard it's easier to find good cuban cigars than non-cubans in Canada. Dunno, is that true? So, with that in mind, you may want to check out our site sponsors for any of the NCs you'd be interested in trying.

I'd suggest you drive to Grand Forks and check out a shop -- Happy Harry's seems to have a good selection -- or two to buy singles. Or make a weekend trip out of it and go to Minneapolis-St. Paul, where there are any number of excellent shops like Stogies on Grand or Golden Leaf and talk to tobacconists and get a wide range of singles.

I really like the Hoyo De Monterey Excalibur 1066 Dark Knight. Probably my favorite cigar of late and its the first where I've thought "I have to get a box of these".

It makes me think of toasted chocolate or cocoa. They're fantastic with an espresso coffee.

Another to try is the Dona Flor Selecao. Really nice, smooth smoke, worthy of the 92 rating it received. Similar (yet different) flavor profile to a Paul Stulac Angel Maduro, which I would also recommend.

Here's my $.02 from what I like... some are duplicates, but it's because they're good!
Not in any particular order:

Tatuaje Havana VI
Tatuaje Fausto
My Father Flor de Las Antillas
My Father La Duena
My Father Le Bijou 1922
Liga Privada No.9
Liga Privada T-52
Undercrown Corona Viva
Cuenca y Blanco
Joya de Nicaragua Antano
Padron x000, or Padron '64
Alec Bradley Black Market
Alec Bradley American Sun Grown
...

The list goes on. Pick what sizes you like, and go from there! Good luck and happy smoking!

Please do not go out and spend the money on that Davi Puro D'Oro. I had one last week that was bitter and well, just wrong. I know some people have liked these, and good on ya, but that is not the cheapest stick in the bunch to go out and try. If you want a Davidoff, please try to search out for the Colorado Claro Robusto.
If that Warlock is up there due to a certain magazine's review, you should try it, but I have yet to hear anyone say anything really good about them. That is the thing about this site; you come to realize that certain publications will favor a cigar and rate it higher based on their parent companies spending habits towards said magazine.

You have some good choices there. If you are looking for samplers, the best thing is to hang around this site and watch the for sale link as there is always something popping, and usually a good selection of stuff that you have never tried.
Good luck.
