Cigars and U.S. Presidents

Did you know that presidential polling goes back to the late 1800s? The polls were originally conducted with the help of the cigar industry. Cigar manufactures would sell two boxes with different packaging. One box would have the Republican candidate and the other box would have the Democrat candidate. When you bought your cigars you were expected to buy the box with the candidate you intended on voting for.

That was also when you'd have dinner out or at a friend's and following dinner would have a cigar and brandy. Those most have been the days.
