So my primary humidor sprang a leak, which I've patched. Had the cigars rehabilitating in tuppers until I got the humidor fixed and was confident it'd hold humidity, then re-seasoned it. So spent the last hour or so organizing my cigars (why is it I'm incredibly anal retentive about my flies and my cigars, but everything else is a damn mess?) ...
And realized what an utterly mind-boggling variety of singles I have. From bombs, trades, brown bag samplers and two different "cigar of the month" memberships I was bought as gifts, I have a good 250 cigars where I have 1 - mmmmmmmmmmaybe 2 - of the stick and no more.
Of course I've got the stuff I've come to like that fits my budget, which I'll smoke daily, and that's grand, and I keep myself stocked up ...
But if I have, say, ten each of a 5 Vegas Classic, 5 Vegas Series 'A', Oliva Serie G, and Oliva Serie G, and then a single Torano Signature, you can bet your ass I won't touch that Torano. Because I have this sense of "I only have the one, got to save it for the right time." But I never seem to hit quite the right time - when I do want a special smoke, I have a few that I can pick up and enjoy, but I don't experiment.
Why am I doing this? Some of these aren't super-premium sticks by any means; the first one I looked at was the aforementioned Torano. I'm sure it's a fine smoke; all the Toranos I've had have been very pleasant. But it's not priced far beyond my daily stuff, or anything. But the second was a Sol Cubano Artisan, which looks to be a $20+ cigar.
... I'm going to just have to force myself to get out of my routine and enjoy some of these singles. Take some notes on them, for chrissakes.
... might have to hang onto that Artisan though.:cbig:
Must ... stop ... hoarding ...
