Have you ever smoked a cigar that had mold on it? Just a little on the foot?

I ask because I was just gifted my first CC, a Monte #2, and after I got home and "really" inspected it, I noticed what I think is a tiny bit of mold on the foot of the cigar.

I was doing a job for an attorney and it turns out he is a cigar smoker. He went to desktop humi and pulled out the Monte #2. He put it in a plastic bag for me and said "enjoy".

I really want to smoke it, but I don't know if I should, even though it looks like just a very small amount.

Will I die if I smoke it? :sadpace:

Never on the foot. But I have had a couple that had a spot here and there on the wrapper. Just wipe it off and on your way. Of course these were always from people that sent bombs or I bought them and they came that way. I have never had a mold issue.

I have found some HTF cigars at a B&M with a little mold and wiped them off and closely inspected them before buying. When I took them home I isolated them and let them sit by themselves for a month or two before putting them with anything else.

I smoked a cigar that had a little mold in the foot. But I did cut about 1/2 in off the foot first. It smoked just fine.

I've also smoked a cigar with beetle holes in it. I smoked it until about 2/3 of an inch before the hole, then cut past the 2nd hold and finished it up. Delicious cigar :)

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the hole probably has no bearing on where the actual beetles are presently as they can move throughout the cigar. I'm just throwing that out there.

I'm not hating, though, I hear beetles give better flavor than the mold we're talking about. Probably some extra protein, too. :)

The mold won't hurt you...go for it.
And tobacco beetles are harmless too.... except when they explode...or you inhale one that tries to escape out of the cut when you torch your cigar..... :halfgrinw

No, but depending on what it was I'd probably fire up anyway :dunno:. And yes a Monte No 2 would fall into that smoke it anyway category .

Had a friend that threw a full box of Esplendido's because they had mold spots on the wrapper....I would have smoked them.
