Has anyone here done a side-by-side comparison of Red Dots vs. Cuban Cohibas?

Early on in my career as a cigar smoker, I smoked a Red Dot and I remember thinking it was a fantastic smoke, if not a bit pricey. I have been smoking almost exclusively Cuban Cohibas for the last year.

Has anyone done a comparison of similar Red Dots and Cubans?

And, are the Red Dots going to be a thing of the past soon? Sorry, I haven't kept up with the latest cigar news.

Well, as I said, it was very early on, shortly after I swore off White Owls and Swishers, so I would have been impressed with any long filler cigar at that point.

Thanks for the responses.

If it is something ye like, go with it and enjoy them. But, as for me own opinion, we're comparing Tetra-Pak wine with a Châteauneuf du Pape here.

Chateauneuf du pape:drool:

Wait, I don't do that anymore

Cohiba

That reminds me, a year or two ago I remember a cigar that reminded me of a Chateuneuf du Pape, what was that? Oh yeah, a Tat black corona gorda. Anybody else ever taste a cigar that reminded them of a Chateauneuf du Pape?

Um, what was the question again?

I think the OP probably got the point as well. Just because items have the same brand name does not mean they are in any way related.

Setting price aside, would you rather have a Rolex that was made in Switzerland or one made in China?
They both will display the correct time ...

Back on point, I've had a couple Red Dots and while they are decent cigars, they are WAY overpriced. You are paying double or triple just for the name.

Cuban Cohibas are also quite pricey. But they have a unique flavor and are made to high standards. Beware though ... as this is the most popular brand to fake.

I already knew that. I just wondered how close the doppelgänger was to the real thing, in the opinion of the BOTL.

I bought two fake rolexes when I was in Asia, one for me and one for my wife. Mine died within a week. My wife's is still going strong after 4 years. It's hit and miss.

If the Cohibas I am buying are fake, then they are the most awesome fakes in the world.
