Wondering how many here collect their cigar bands?

I started by using the bands to illustrate the notes I kept about which I liked / didn't. This was super helpful to show in the B&M so they could point me in the right direction and make good recommendations, which has worked out really nicely at this point.

As a natural born stamp collector, it was pretty much effortless for me to begin collecting the bands the same way I collect stamps in terms of album storage etc.

So if you collect bands let us know roughly how many you've got, (I probably only have about 30 so far) and if you don't collect them but want tips for getting started, I can definitely help :)

UPDATE: Join the group! BOTL Cigar Band Collectors Group

Thanks!

I have kept almost all of mine over the past year or 2, maybe if I remember tonight I will take a pic of the jar and post it up.

I figure I don't really need anything to remind me (or more importantly the wife!!!) about how much I spend on cigars... Ignorance is bliss

Have probably around 500 bands that I kept. Gonna do a big picture of them much like what my parents did with wine labels in the late 70's

Those coasters are a really cool idea, I save all of mine... Although I have no idea how many I've smoked in the last 6 months

I started saving bands about 5 years ago. I have three cigar boxes filled to the brim. When I stop being lazy I'm going to put them into a photo album.

I have collected mine ever since I started smoking. I want to collage them somehow once I get a larger collection with more variety. I am thinking of making my own desktop humidor and making a sort of decoupage on top with my bands. I've seen factory-made humidors with band collages on top, but I think it will more fun if I make one of my own using bands of cigars I have smoked.

I'm right there with you brother, but it's not sommuch the bands that tips my wife off to how much I spend as it is to the completely full humidor and cooler and all those packages that she Intercepts.

But to answer the question I save all my bands. I have no idea what I am going to do with them.

In college, my room mate and I taped them around our mirror in the dorm. I saved them all when we moved out as he gave up the hobby a few months before graduation. Somewhere in a move I lost the cigar box that I kept those bands, along with my collected cutters and such. Since last year when I got back into cigars with almost a 10 year void I have saved my bands in a drawer.

i keep 'em. sometimes i tape them into my journal/dossier at the top of a "review." i'm going to be making a few bookmarks out of some and possibly covering a table top with some, too. they're nice decorations!
