Guys... this isn't directed at anyone specifically, but I'm just asking everyone to remember to use a little common sense and discretion when it comes to Habanos. Most people here understand this, but there has been a flood of source requests in a current thread where some people asking haven't been around for long at all.

I don't care at all when known BOTLs are asking for info via PM's cuz God knows I've done it, but if you have only been here for a month or two, please be patient when diving into the CC world and asking for information. It is nothing personal against newbies, it's just that we are discussing activities that are frowned upon and once a little trust is built up, you will start to get this info without even asking and if not, then feel free to start asking some other brothers who you've built up a relationship with.

I'm not one to be concerned about "Big Brother" watching, but when multiple people that have only been registered for a month or so with less than 50 posts are asking for sources, that shoots up a red flag for multiple reasons IMO. I understand wanting to help fellow cigar smokers, but please use a little caution all around... on both sides.

as someone under 6 months, i actually wholeheartedly agree. habanos s.a. is not going anywhere, what's the rush? and, while this community is OUTSTANDING, it is still the interweb, and you do not always know who you are dealing with.

Howdy All:

I hope you are all great today.

I agree with this as well. A little homework on your own and you will find what you are looking for.

Best regards, tony

One more bit of advice for Noobs. People are much more willing to verify a source than give you one. If you do your own homework and are looking for some reassurance that is very different than simply asking for a source. There is a lot of information out there if you take the time to look. Do your homework.

Honestly, people shouldn't have access to these rooms until they have a certain post and trade count.......imho.

Wouldn't you like to know?
People can feel free to pm me. Not that I am any use as have not really ever ordered Habanos online but I can give you some really expensive places in Canada to go buy your smokes. Or give you a list of what shops to go to in Havana.

can we sticky this in the habanos section? really seems like a good reiteration of core policy, and a good reminder/ disclaimer for the newly acquired brethren.

It's already in the guidelines to the Habanos room, people choose to either not read or ignore them.

Habanos Guidelines

"Please do not discuss about sources, retailers or vendors. Asking for sources on the forum is considered bad etiquette and frowned upon. If you are in search of reliable and proven retailers, please look no further than our site sponsors. If you wish to inquire about a certain retailer, please do so privately. Thanks!"

I'm never a fan of showing off what I've bought in mass quantities in what is basically an open forum  Sure, it's fine for the international brothers, but you guys from the USA are like a drug dealer standing on the corner too long, just waiting to be picked up. My 2 cents...

This can't possibly be that you think there's someone at the agency that investigates this stuff spying on you/us? I trust my govt as much as a trust I would trust a Bernie Madoff to take $30k from me and make me money. All it takes is a bored person at the agency that enforces these purchases to start surfing cigar sites. Once they obtain the info they want, they will then order from said source, note the address, and put a watch on the address. Then bam a bunch of people get hit. Of course they probably already know all the addresses. Eitherway watch watch your corn hole guys (Office Space reference).

This seems to be something that plagues just about any cigar forum and it won't end anytime soon. Common sense dictates that any member become a part of the community first before trying to extract sensitive information...give to the Forum first and then see about getting information later. Just my 2 cents.

Common Sense and Discretion, something that is sorely lacking in this day and age .

Sean
You forgot to add patience.

The one thing that sticks out from that other thread is the sheer amount of brand spanking new posters stating how they were about to make another order and wanted the source to protect themselves.

If you're not sure of a source pm it to someone to confirm. Don't under any circumstances go around asking people you don't know and who don't know you for sources.
