Anyone explain why alot of my cigars have cracked feet? I have 3 humis all with 65 beads, and my 120qtcoolidor is powered by an oasis that maintains it at 64-65%. I store all of these in my basement where its about 63-66 degrees. Theres cracked feet in all of them.

why????

could be from a sudden rise in humidity at some point in the cigars life... The filler will take in humidity and swell. the wrapper will not be very elastic, thus the cracked feet.

are most all of them bought via internet? to prevent this, i usually keep the cigars boxed up and unopened in a 60%rh for a week then move to my 65%rh unopened for another week

^^ Me thinks that Dan may be on to something, or quite possibly on something.
Makes sense. I you basement is as humid as most basements each time you reach for a smoke you introduce that moisture into your humidors. The beads might not be able to absorb as quickly as the cigars do.

Just for kicks I'd get an RH reading from the basement to either confirm or dismiss that theory.

Good luck.

Explain to me your version of cracked feet? If a quarter or half inch, no big deal. It'll smoke out.
