Would there really be that much of a difference between the Mag 50 and the Mag 48?

I have a Mag 50 but was letting it age a while longer before I smoked it.

a) Get more Mag 50s. Trust me, ye'll do it anyways after smoking that one.
b) Magnum 50 isn't what the 46 is; even the EL of the Mag 50 is different from the current production; so the 48 will be different. Even with the same blend, vitola size would make it different.

I thought people and cigar manufacturers were moving away from large ring guages either way wonder if I'll be able to get my hands on any of these..

manufacturers are making more thin ring gauge cigars (lanceros, pcs, coronas), but the big boys still rule in the US.

I think this will be the first year I don't buy ANY LEs. So many good regular production 08s still on the shelves. I'm looking forward to a couple REs though, especially the RA Celestial Fino and SLR Piramides

I'm with you 100% on this one. There is just no way I could buy these, even if I was remotely interested in the sizes. There are way to many extremely intriguing RE's available and I'm trying to stock up on a few old cigars before they disappear. LFDC Short Churchill? Quintero RE? Yeah, the EL's do not seem that interesting this year, especially given the ridiculous prices that I've seen for them.
