Hello All,

Recently my shipment of Cubans came in from one of our sponsors, and, I have some questions pertaining to factory codes/holograms.

When I lived in Tampa, FL I used to get boxes of Cubans from Cubans! I noticed that the boxes didn't have any factory codes stamped on the bottom? But did have a hologram/watermark sticker? Does anybody know what that was?

Another question I have for you all is how long do you recommend aging my Cubans before I smoke them? I'm not talking about aging my smokes for the long term, but I got a box of Cohiba Siglo II's and they were not as tasty as the Siglo VI's? The date of the box was July of 2006. Any suggestions and answers to my questions will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Those are usually called fakes.

I've read a large number of people commenting on how tasty the 2006's have been right off the truck. If yours are somewhat flat then they might have been stored improperly or are just in a temp sick period. You might put them away for a few weeks and then sample again to see if any improvement is noted. Also note that it's tough to compare the amount of flavor you get from a small PC to that of a double robusto. Rollers have a chance to put more variety of leaves in the larger cigars.

You were buying Fakes it sounds like. Aged fakes takes just like fakes as well.

Age these new ones with the box code stamped on the box and you will definately see a difference.

I've heard that only boxes sold in cuba all have the hologram on them but I also thought they had box code on them as well.

I generally try to let cigars sit for a month in the humi after shipping (unless I just flat-out can't wait and have to "try" one).

Thanks BOTL!,

Yeah, I thought that boxes that weren't meant for direct export had the holograms on them. Can anybody verify this for me?

Can anyone verify the quality of our sponsors too? Please send me a private message (PM) to let me know your feedback. I just spent several hundreds of dollars and I want to insure that my cigars are authentic.

Thanks bro's,

SCS

No one likes to know they've been taken, but that's what the deal was on the ones you used to buy in FL. Sorry. As to the other questions, do some reading through the forums and I think you'll find the answers you are looking for. Welcome.
