There was an incredible amount of fakes running around there. Beware the notorious Glass top boxes. Also know that that any non-cubans were extremely high priced. They have not law that they cannot sell anything made thier cannot be sold there, so they have to be exported then re-imported. I'd plan to take what you want to smoke with you. That's what I did. Other than that, I believe you can find legits at the airport and the high end hotels. But they were Really expensive, Like 40-50 a stick expensive.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Nope don't do it...we have gone two times in the past six months. Both staying in the Bavaro Beach area, and on both occasions I laughed at fakes whilest I smoked my aged sticks from home. Glass tops, cigars that look like musical instruments there are so many beetle holes, poor humidify in walk ins....I could go on and on but won't.'

Enjoy the weather!

I took all my own cigars with me. And I recommend you do the same. They sell fakes galore and I had the guy on the beach down to practically nothing for a box. Believe it or not should you go off the resorts compound for excursions they push their Dominican cigars for sale over CC's anyway.

And the cigar shop in the resort I stayed at the prices were no cheaper than $50 per smoke!!

The signature concoction MAMAjuana (not to be mistaken as marijuana) is really good too. It's a mix of red wine, honey and I believe native tree barks. They consider it an aphrodisiac but it didn't do anything to me but get me and my Uncle really drunk haha. Their local Brugal rum is also really good.

Hahahaha well played. We went to the bar for a few smokes and asked for something nice to sip on while we enjoyed our cigars.

I'll tell you this from experience....the rumor of it being an "aphrodisiac" is just that, a rumor. After our few cigars we smoked and drank MANY mamajuana's. We both were stupid drunk, I walked into a tree that's the middle of the sidewalk, why it's there I still have no idea. I somehow I made it back to my room and woke up in bed the next day still in my clothes and also missed breakfast. My Aunt asked me what the hell happened to my Uncle since none of us didn't see him until after lunchtime the next day.

If I could re-live the fun of that night I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

We stayed in a very nice hotel and even the cigars they had there were fakes for sure not to mention all the little shops around the place. There's some cigar factory around there don Lucas or something that may have real ones I was not there though to confirm. I wouldn't bother, I just brought my own Cubans. I wish that was not the case because this is my first time in another country that could have access to real Cubans and it would be nice to buy them in person rather than online for once.
