broken1.jpgbroken2.jpgbroken3.jpg This UF-4's head was damaged in transit. Damn USPS :angerFU:

Any tips on getting around the carnage and still salvaging this HTF smoke?

I'm afraid if I use my Palio it'll destroy it much more...the fingernail or punch seemed like the way to go.

I've seen a bottle of cigar glue, for lack of better word, passed to a brother on here during a newbie trade many weeks back, but don't know anything about it or its application; might this be the ticket?

Thanks for helping out a brother in need, as I am very much looking forward to this 'gar

"cigar glue" is vegetable pectin, it's what the rollers use when making the cigars, and yes it works great. I've repaired far worse than these and they smoked just fine! Iv'e even fully re-rolled cigars using it. If you can get some, I'd suggest it. But that UF-4 would probably smoked okay as it is, you'd just need to put your lips over the crack (that's what she said).

I've used the cigar glue before with good results, but on the fly I just lick the underside of the wrapper and stick it down and keep on keepin on.

I would be sure to keep the label on to prevent further damage as you smoke it. If it's possible slide it closer to the top of the head as well. Good luck

As njstone mentioned, cigar glue is basically vegetable pectin. Instead of buying the expensive cigar glue online, what I did was go to the section at WallyMart where they have the supplies for canning and picked up the instant pectin that is used for canning jam and jelly. I got the instant stuff since you can mix it directly with distilled water and do not have to "cook" it. If I recall correctly a small packet was around $1. Then I picked up a small paint brush to apply it with. I have repaired several sticks with cracks and unraveling wrappers this way over the past couple of years and it works great. The pectin does not affect the taste at all. It does affect the burn just a little bit but it certainly beats that alternative of throwing the stick away.

all good feedback, but consider this; DE construction values are insane, especially at the LP level. i have burned undercrown and LP (even a rat), that had worse done accidentally, and they burned and drew perfectly. you'd be surprised.

Yep...same here. The pectin works great on the body but can be tricky around the head. I have used cigar tips a couple times on ones that are really bad. You can get them fairly cheap on line.

Was going to reco this myself - any time I have a problem like the O.P. I slide the band closer to the end to keep it together.
