OK, so i got back from my visit to NHC to pick up my tat blacks. Finally got to meet the fabled Dan from New Havana Cigars. He's super cool. He's got a great littl spot for his warehouse and he's got this really cool sitting area that is hip, if not chic. Great motif.

Anyhow, we talked fro about 1/2 hour. OK, he talked and i listened. The guy knows a ton about the cigars he stocks. of course, i suppose he should. But i thought i knew a little bit about them, but compared to what he knows, i;m a first grader and he a college prof.

My mouth was drooling the entire time; looking at his huge stash of all the smokes i love. I bet he thought i was a complete idiot, or else whacked out on acid or something, since all i could do was smile as i kept looking around in total amazement. I was trying to look at him while he was talking to me, but my eyes kept wandering. And when i did look at him, i' sure i had that starry eyed look because all i could think about was which ones i would smoke first if they were all mine.

But heres what i came away with in terms of info...

He has less than a cabinet each of the unbanded Verocu 1s and 2s and the same goes for the banded 1s and 2s.

He's got more Illusiones than you can shake a stick at. All of em! He gave me one of the ECCJs to try out and he also gave me this little firecracker of a cigar, the Illsuione 68. he sadi i better sit down when i smoke it cuz it's the strongest of them all, even more than the MK ultra.

He showed me a few retailer fliers from DPG. got to see pics of all the new vitolas in the DPG Blue line, as well as the new band they will carry. Also saw the 2 new blends DPG will be releasing at the RTDA next week. ONe of them is blended by Jaime and it's got a great label. He plans to carry them all.

He also briefly mentinoed that he was hoping to put together some sort of small event at his "shop". I told him i would be mroe than happy to "cater" it with some of my award winning bbq. I'll have to stay on him about that because it sounded like it's something he's only fancied about, and not really put a huge amount of thought into. I shoudl press him into getting Pete to come out.

It was extremely difficult to resist the temptation of saying, "OK, i'll take a fiver of this, a fiver of that, and oh yeah, how 'bout a fiver of these and those too!"

Tried a 68 the other day and it was fantastic. Perfect smoke when you don't have enough time for a large cigar but still want some flavor and power.
